Purebred dogs are Mike Macbeth’s lifelong passion. One of Canada’s most successful breeders, this international dog show judge and dog writer works extensively within the canine community.
A second-generation dog breeder (her mother founded their Glahms Kennels in 1951), Mike is founder and President of the Dandie Dinmont Terrier Club of Canada and a life member of the Canadian Kennel Club. Due to her world wide success breeding top winning Dandies, she was named Dog World (UK)’s 2008 “Kennel of International Significance”.
Judging since 1979, Mike is approved to judge all breeds, and was voted one of Canada’s top five judges. She has judged extensively at the most prestigious shows throughout Europe, North and South America, Africa and the Antipodes, including Australia's Adelaide Royal, for the third time in September, 2010.
Why does this lady have the name “Mike”? The former Senior Writer of Canadian Business Magazine, and winner of 8 national writing awards found the sobriquet she was given at birth an advantage as a journalist in the world of business. In 2007, Mike was invited to organize the educational weekend programming for PawsWay in Toronto, which she continues to do with her usual love and passion, to this day.
